At Westbridge University, penniless outcast Kael Mercer watches a bully crush the only thing his mother left him: a broken pocket watch. But when Kael’s blood flows backward into its gears, the watch opens a forbidden door—and summons Lilith, an ancient succubus queen who recognizes him as the future king of the Abyss. Their bond should make Lilith his servant. Instead, Kael rewrites the contract: power by consent, desire by choice. Together they uncover a conspiracy hidden beneath the university, where the wealthy Vance family and the secretive Dawn Order harvest souls, auction human lives, and guard a throne that may be beating inside Kael’s own heart. Every answer leads closer to Evelyn, the mother he believed was dead—and to her terrifying warning that freeing Lilith could kill them both. As attraction deepens into love, Kael learns the crown does not merely grant power; it demands ownership, sacrifice, and a queen in chains. To save Lilith and an entire city, he must become the king everyone fears—or destroy the throne and himself with it. But after the Abyss is broken and the dead begin to return, one final door opens beneath the ocean. Waiting behind it is a girl wearing Evelyn’s watch. She looks at Kael and whispers, “Brother?”
